I am the founding Partner and Head of Strategy for MDC, a boutique consulting firm specializing in Market and Reference data servicing the Financial Services Industry. Prior to this, I led Data and Risk Management consulting practices for various consulting companies delivering for buy-side and sell-side firms.
In both positions my delivery role centres around Business Strategy and Risk Management for firms throughout Canada, the US and Europe. I have had the opportunity to build a wealth of intellectual capital knowledge through the use of information, technology and data management practices. This has formed the foundation of MDC which was launched in 2012. Our Vision is focused on factual requirements of our client’s business which is fundamentally the basis of the firms culture and philosophy.
Gregg Joined MDC in early 2012 as Business Sales Director of North America. He is a dynamic Financial Sales Leader with a proven track record of driving double-digit growth through volatile business cycles. He has a unique background as a senior bank analyst with experience in the fixed income and equity markets. Strong ability to identify business challenges and produce creative solutions. Excellent communication, interpersonal and motivational skills contribute to building loyalty, high performing teams and forging strong client relationships.
As Managing Principal and Head of Delivery at MDC, I am accountable for developing relationships with stakeholders in developing and delivering effective market data management programs.
Prior to joining MDC, I headed a team of Market Data Specialists for a major sell side firm. In both roles, my 20+ years in the financial services community (including Product Management, Sales, and Business Development roles in technology-based sales organizations) provide a unique insight into Vendor Management and Cost Management practices that exemplify my expertise.
My realistic and results driven approach includes building teams and a path that prepares an organization to achieve their short and long term goals. Leveraging the tools and knowledge gained through direct involvement in market and reference data, I architect processes and programs that give firms the information they need to make effective strategic sourcing decisions.
I am a Senior Financial Technology Professional with two decades of experience in the Capital Markets industry. Over the past two decades I worked for major North American Sell-Side firms holding progressive senior roles including managing trading support desks, service and implementation management of trading technologies, client and exchange connectivity, IT infrastructure, vendor management and data procurement.
My expertise in the data management field includes administrative support, engineering and implementation, commercial and strategic aspect of procurement and use of data, contract negotiation, cost optimization, compliance, expense reporting, and vendor audit.
My strong personal attributes as dependable, well organized relationship builder, with excellent interpersonal skills and calm demeanour has helped me achieve a proven record of success.
I am a specialized Market Data Consultant, I am highly motivated and thrive on challenges to new environments and responsibilities. I have 15 years of experience in the Market Data Industry and have worked for many Financial services firms (buy and sell side) throughout Canada.
Prior to joining MDC I was responsible for inventory management controls for a large buy side firm working as a senior compliance analyst, I have consistently delivered a high level of achievement by successfully demonstrating a strict compliance strategy on all Market Data Audits. My level of expertise as well as my commitment to careful preparation, planning and packaging has resulted in all review processes going smoothly. My area of expertise comes from managing various Market Data Tools to ensure minimal associated costs to the business. The knowledge I have built from developing inventory strategies, DACS controls and exchange reporting, has delivered exceptional results that have significant impact to savings.
Cheryl Parkes, PCP
Cheryl brings over 15 years of experience to MDC and oversees all aspects of finance and accounting. Her skills as an accounting specialist are augmented by her recent completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation. Cheryl has experience spanning industries from Finance, Legal, Manufacturing and Retail. This diversity and is very complimentary and important to the firms vision.
Experienced in both Canada and the USA also gives Cheryl excellent insight on international business requirements, and positions her as an important part the team.
